Lambourn Fireplace Combination
The Lambourn fireplace with tile inserts dating from around 1900 features an ornate decorative patterned frieze and is finished in traditional black. Victorian cast iron fireplaces with strong patterns were typical of the Victorian period, influenced by designer William Morris, whose designs were beautifully ornate. The dimensions suggest the Lambourn combination fire is ideally suited for use in a parlour or drawing room.
The Lambourn fireplace is produced by Carron.
The fire can be used for traditional solid fuels and will therefore require an ashpan. A gas insert is also available which needs to be fitted by a ‘Gas Safe’ registered installer. The Lambourn fireplace can be fitted purely for decoration, but will still require a fireplace opening large enough to accommodate the fireback.
Polished fireplaces will require occasional maintenance to retain the appearance. This involves a rub of light oil over the surface. Due to the intense heat produced by a real fire, discolouration or tarnishing of polished cast iron may occur. To avoid this, it is recommended that customers choose black or highlighted finish fireplaces.

What is a ‘Combination’ fireplace?
A combination fireplace is a complete fireplace where the surround (mantel) and insert have been cast as one piece. The fireplace components such as the fireback, grate and shelf, are made separately and simply bolted together. The casting process limits the size of the fireplace so that combination fires tend to be smaller and therefore generally more suitable for bedrooms and smaller rooms. For larger fireplaces, the main body and surround (mantel) are cast as individual sections.
